Who are we?

Kouli’s OT/ Sensory Gym is a pediatric occupational therapy facility/gym located in Riverdale, NY (Bronx), created by Kouli Nalpantidis OTR/L, who believes children’s therapy services are best provided in a fun, energetic and caring environment where the needs of the child come first. At Kouli’s OT/ Sensory Gym your child will receive individualized attention from a dedicated and professional therapists who will work with you to determine the best approach to your child’s special needs.

Occupational therapists help facilitate a child’s age-appropriate fine motor skills on improving hand writing, visual motor skills, upper body strength, attention span, organization skills, coordination and body/spatial aware We focus on encouraging age appropriate play skills, activities of daily living, and sensory integration.

What is Sensory?

Sensory integration, is the ability to take in information through the senses (touch, movement (vestibular), smell, taste, vision, hearing and proprioception), to put it together with prior information, memories, and knowledge stored in the brain, and to make a meaningful response. Sensory integrative dysfunction is a disorder in which sensory input is not integrated or organized appropriately in the brain and may produce varying degrees of problems in development, information processing, and behavior. At Koulis OT/Sensory Gym we offer an innovative approach to sensory integration and strives to maintain a team-based model where the child’s needs always come first!

I think that the most immediately noticeable thing about Kouli, is what a good person she is. She always has a smile on her face; she is always emanating love and patience. Her kindness and compassion imbue all that she does.

We met Kouli at a scary and imperative time in our lives. Our eighteen-month-old daughter was experiencing significant developmental delays, and we were new to the world of Early Intervention, therapies, and the accompanying jargon. Kouli was an anchor for us. With her insight and experience, and most importantly, her sensitive “bedside manner,” she guided us through a tough time.

Kouli worked with us for a year and a half, until our daughter aged out of EI. In that time Kouli changed her therapeutic regimen to correlate to our daughter’s evolving needs. She challenged her, and loved her at the same time. She came to our home for sessions, and met with us at her amazing sensory gym. Kouli became part of our family, and a true partner with us in building our daughter’s abilities and self esteem.

To any parent looking for an OT, we recommend Kouli whole-heartedly. Kouli has become part of our family, and we are grateful daily for the way she has changed our daughter’s life. Kouli is fantastic. My 12-month old has been having therapy with her for about 6 months now and he has made great strides. He’s always happy to see her, too! She is creative and works towards his individual needs.

Kouli is not only an incredibly talented OT, but she has a magical way of putting caregivers at ease.
